Famous Explorers

How exciting to be an explorer and make important discoveries!!!  Hey, NTF word!!  This unit in Social Studies is totally about adventure.  Are you researching famous explorers at home, too?  Can you identify some of the explorers and their accomplishments?  What was their motivation and what were the results?  Were they beneficial or detrimental?

  1. Sarah Hoxworth: When Christopher Columbus came to North America he wasn't searching for a new land, he wanted to find an easier route to India. Since he usually had to travel all the way around Africa, he decided he would take a different way. When he came to North America, he brought good and bad things with him. The good things were a big trade with Europe, called the Colombian Trade. When he went to the Bahamas however, people brought diseases with them and it spread throughout the country. These are the things about Columbus's exploration.
